My Top 20 Hip Hop, R&B, and Electronica Joints of 2015

Happy New Years. It's finally here! 2016, and I'm going to showcase a list of my favorite joints of 2015, because it was a good year to remember.

Number 20

Truffle Butter - by Nicki Minaj, Drake, and Lil Wayne.

Originally, I loved the song by Mally Mall, which featured The Kid Heat and Drake, and that version was far better than Nicki Manaj, by a long shot, but it marked the end of 2014 and the beginning of 2015 with an unforgettable tune. I would call it an anthem to my new year.

Number 19

Kendrick Lamar - I

At first when I heard this song in the Fall of 2014, I thought this would stray Kendrick Lamar away from his roots, but I'm glad I was wrong. This song caught on to moments later, and I really did like it. Even the video was good.

Number 18

DJ Rapture feature Jonn Hart & Milla - Hell Yeah.

From the summer of 2014, through the early part of 2015, I was intrigued by the melodic sound by a DJ from Germany, sung by Mr. 'Who Booty' himself, Jonn Hart. Not only was this song melodic and fun, but the video was very adventurous, as they took journeys thoughout the Golden State, from the Bay to L.A, From Deigo to Sacramento.

Hell yeah!

Number 17

Phillip George - Wish You Were Mine.

It seems like all the outfits of the 1980s and 1990s are coming back. Damn! But most of all, all the good music have the weirdest videos. I have to say this beat was melodic and definitely outgoing, but man the video was trippy, and this kept getting good play throughout the Winter and Spring of 2015.

Number 16

Jidenna featuring Roman GianArthur - Classic Man

This is a man who takes suit porn to a whole new level. Even the way he sings his song, shows style and grace. I knew this was a hit throughout the Spring of 2015.

Number 15

Martin Solveig feat Sam White - +1

This was a joint I hearing throughout the Spring and Summer of 2015. The video was weird but fun; still the song brought joy.

Number 14

John Hart feat Baby Bash and Baeza - Papi.

When I first heard this song in the early part of 2015, I knew this was a catch sound.
With a catchy melodic tune, it's hard to ignore.

Number 13

Chris Brown and Tyga - Ayo

This was the joint that came out during the late Winter of 2015 and flourished throughout the year, as an upbeat sound to keep you dancing. Obviously, these two are a pair working together and having fun - lots I say!

Number 12

The Game feat Dej Loaf - Ryda

What can I say about this song and video? Definitely the Ride Or Die kind of song -- the 2015 Bonnie & Clyde, and hell it's got a twisted ending with a cliffhanger. I knew this was going to be a joint to love, when I first heard it in the Spring of 2015.

Number 11

Young Jeezy feat Ty Dolla $ign & Beenie Man - Link Up

What do you get when you mix two hottest rappers; one from the ATL and one from LA, along with a well-known artist from Jamaica? A Link Up. This joint was hot from the Fall of 2014, and led on through the early part of 2015. Still one of my favorite joints.

Number 10

DJ Snake feat Aluna George - You Know You Like It

When I first heard this in the Spring of 2015, I honestly didn't know this was by DJ Snake. I remembered when he came up with a collaboration with Lil' John in 2014 "Turn Down For What", but this sound was a complete departure, but not too far from a departure; his trademark was there, but more melodic and definitely something that stayed in my head for a long time. I really loved the track, but the video was very weird; more like the Planet of the Apes meet the modern world.

Number 9

Years & Years - Desire

I knew this was going to be a song I would enjoy listen to when I first heard it at the end of 2014, and it kept playing throughout the early part of 2015, but there were follow up songs by this group.
Out of all the songs created by Years & Years, this was the best one.

Number 8

Fly Street Gang feat IamSu - Step on The Gas

Okay, to a number of people who hadn't heard of them, I understand, but I have. These guys are from the Bay Area - Oakland, CA, and the sound itself comes from the Bay, but this is truly a joint I couldn't ignore. I liked video, and most importantly I love the sound.

Number 7

Andy  C & Fiora - Heartbeat Loud

Okay, while there are a number of songs that were Hip Hop, R&B, and Electronica, this kind of electronica I've been into since I was in my teens. I listen to a lot of music, involving breaks and DnB (Drum N Bass). There were a number of good DnB in 2015, but this one really caught my attention.

Number 6

Chris Brown and Tyga feat. ScHoolboyQ - Bitches and Marijuana

Truly a hit when I first heard this in the early summer of 2015. I knew this was definitely worth club play, even in just an instrumental form. Plus the video is a classic video play.

Number 5

David Zowie - House Every Weekend

My inspirations throughout the late spring and summer of 2015. I love the lyrics that sank into my mind, along with the groovy house beat.

Number 4

Blonde feat Melissa Steel - I Loved You

At the end of 2014, this was a track that had caught my attention, and it went on throughout 2015. The beat was very classic and easy-going. It had an uppity vibe. Plus, this video really tales a tale about how people change after money and success, forgetting who their true friends really were.
Love the message in that video.

Number 3

Tough Love feat Ginuwine - Pony (Jump On It)

This song couldn't be ignored. When I first heard it over the summer, I knew this was going to be a hit on Energy 98. Not only was the beat hot, along with Ginuwine, who originally made this song back in 1996, from his album The Bachelor. This video has two sexy girls taking off in a 2015 Chevrolet Corvette.

Number 2

LuvBug  feat Mark Asari - Revive (Say Something)

Ever since I heard this song in the Winter of 2015, I couldn't help replaying this song over, and it's one of my favorites for the year. In fact, I used the instrumentals to a trailer of my book "Love Type Situation". The vibe was equally energetic and sensual. It's the most chart-topping song for electronica

Number 1

Fetty Wap feat Remy Boyz - 679

This song has became a hit in my book since I first heard it over the summer. Now I know there were many other songs by Fetty Wap, but this one was my favorite, and yet it became my favorite song for the year 2015. The beat's catchy, and I can tell this was club hit material.

See you guys in 2017.

Happy New Year.
